I think if you're in the 40's, your knowledge base is really good. What you may need to improve is;

only answering the question asked, not what you think the question is. Don't give your own explanations or opinions, just to show the examiner that you've read on this topic, just stick to the question

Knowing that one specific requirement has more than one answer required and answering all these individual questions in one requirement (e.g define AND describe) so you often lose marks there

Your time constraint, its a really time crunch of an exam.  If you ONLY answer the question requirement, you'll find that you have just enough time to give in an answer (each mark=1.8 minutes)

So for every small requirement, calculate the finish time on that requirement and write it below your answer so you know when to stop. You can delete it later

Always go back to the question to really know what the requirement is asking. A simple way is to paste all requirements to the answer sheet and answer each requirement with the real answer being above it, that way it is easier to check back. You can delete the requirement later

Practice on your exam technique, know your formats of emails etc

If you don't know an answer to a question, don't overly explain to convince the examiner you know something, type in some short vague points (RELEVANT TO THE QUESTION) and elaborate on them if you have time left for the question.

 Lastly know how many points the examiner expects from you in a requirement so you know how many points to write. It will keep you away from overly explaining points

I also failed APM with 41%. I know i made mistakes in that exam. Didn't answer the requirements despite numerous practice tests and answered what i thought the question was.

Then i overly explained on my points and didn't stick to simple points

Was in a rush, didn't see the requirements clearly and ended up answering one requirement in another requirement's answer.

The best is simple and short answers first, explain if you have time left.

Wish you the best of luck (and me too)

Thanks for the sound advice. I also will be resitting APM.i did not even attempt Q2 due to poor time management.
I am trying to work on shorten my answers and focus alot on answering what is asked but I am failing miserably at this. I still have the tendency of varying off what's been asked and Writting alot.
I hope I have enough time to get rid of my old habits and answer in short and direct points.

Kind regards
Kelvin

I totally understand and can relate. I have been failing as well and unable to determine what exactly I'm doing wrong or where exactly needs improvement. I've attended webinars, practiced questions, followed the advice of the experts eg. linking to the scenario etc. But I'm still unsure where the problem lies. Not sure if it's that I need to write more or whar. I've reached this far with APM being my final paper but I can't seem to qualify. What makes it different from all other exams I've passed? Advice needed.
