Hi Ammad,

It depends how motivated you are to do both. The last date for submission is 20th November if I am not wrong. so you have rest of the days to revise for P7.
However if you already have a mentor then that's really good. But if you don't have one, you better start looking for one now. Once you have found your mentor, you need to fix your first meeting with your mentor to discuss with him what you are planning to do and which company you are focussing on and how do you intend to do it. He will then add his suggestions. As long as your research work is your own work and you put it in your own words, then you can easily avoid plagiarism. It totally depends upon how quick you can do it. If you are resourceful and your source of information is good, then you should not worry. It will be easy for you to collect information.
In second meeting you will discuss your progress with your mentor and in last meeting you are to deliver a 15 minutes presentation and discuss the wrap up of your research work. Very important point to note is that your Learning Statement is of equal importance as your Research Report.

Hope it was helpful.

Save yourself from plagiarism as much as you can and even investigate and inspect the sources suggested by your mentor , have not been used a lot by students on similar topics before. Most of all this is for all students that chose a mentor wisely who is not acting more like a dominator then a facilitator , you by all means should be active on the topic yourself.

Yes Sabiha I know that like acca papers, teachers and mentors are just their for guidance, one has to study/research himself to pass and probablity of success depends upon a students own efforts! But as u have raised an important point here, if a mentor is guiding a number of students simultaneously, how can I ensure that my research doesnt Overlap others' and " investigate and inspect the sources suggested by the mentor"??

Well that is the tricky and tough part. Many students fail to pass the research due to having an institutional mentor who is mentoring 50 students simultaneously . I would suggest you to have a mentor who individually deals with you and this would ensure less overlapping of work.

Thanks for your guidance Sabiha, but I think it might be too late now since  I have already chosen a mentor and he is also an instituitional mentor, so cant do much about it but I will try to take care of those things that you have indicated.
