What could be the reason why those who failed P7 in June 2018 scored lesser marks in Sept 2018?

Dear Colleagues, what could be the factor that all my colleagues who re-attempted AAA (P7) in september after failing it in June, all scored lesser marks in september compared to what they scored in June 2018?

The examiner's report which can be found here https://www.accaglobal.com/content/dam/acca/global/PDF-students/acca/p7/examinersreports/aaa-examreport-s18.pdf points to, amongst other things, difficulties with time management. The AAA exam now has a 50-mark case study (as opposed to 35 marks in P7) which requires a structured and practiced approach to handling the amount of information given across a number of exhibits. The report cites specific areas where candidates did not make good use of the time (e.g. in relation to the analytical procedures part of Q1).

This report is an invaluable resource for all students preparing to sit the exam in future and includes links to 5 new exam technique articles which can also be found here https://www.accaglobal.com/uk/en/student/exam-support-resources/professional-exams-study-resources/p7/technical-articles.html
