The best way is to study by a good tutor.
I understand most of the students are capable of preparing by themselves. But personally, I like to study by tutor,as the tutor will provide you a clear concept with practical examples and also tricks in solving questions. I am already opted for the tuition but due to busy working schedule I didn't read the lectures from 2 days and I would say the lecture is "AWESOME".
As this is my first attempt and I don't want to risk to get failed. It is better to pay in order to pass, otherwise if you fail you will regret and feel "Why I didn't pay to tutor before". So if for example you still fail after having a tuition but the major thing lies that you will be still confident for preparing again as your basics already been built up so much by those tuition lectures that you can revise easily.
I will not recommend to study by your own. Its a risk. Good Tutor will help Student pass.

I agree with your idea in some extent
The tutor may be successful in helping others to pass AFM, nevertheless nothing guarantees the same will come to you.
Then Pass or not, it all depends on you.
It's You to have to practice time to time It's You to have to arrange schedule and commit to it closely. And there are so many "You"s. Even if you can have great tutor of all time, spending nothing but your money and putting no effort yourself makes failing the exam certain.
