Use of Scrap Paper in Remote Exams

Use of Scrap Paper in Remote Exams

Good Morning,

I have an issue with ACCA deciding against the use of scrap paper for exams. I have been practicing with the Scratch Pad however I find it more time consuming for MCQ calculations than rough workings, especially with regards to drawing T accounts to solve reconciling amounts. As one of the remote exam pre-checks is that a 360 degree view of the room you're taking in, it is a very simple matter of students having to present the pages they plan to use for rough workings to the invigilator at this point, obviously both front and back pages. A limit of 3 pages can be set and these can be separated on your working space to view during the 360 degree inspection and also be presented one by one, front and back to the invigilator prior to the exam starting. I find it hard to believe that the use of scrap paper poses a great risk to the use of unauthorised material than the allowance of a 5min comfort break which is totally unsupervised.

I'm interested how many other students feel the same and would like those who agree to comment on this post so ACCA can be made aware of this prior to the exams and that we can have scrap paper available, per the suggested guidelines or any other control ACCA might want to add.

I support what you are saying 100%. I have used scratch paper on all of my previous exam sittings extensively. I also agree that the ''on screen'' scratch paper makes things much more time consuming for me. There should be additional time allowance with relation to this.

It's going to be a lot harder without scratch paper! I find this a very upsetting issue too.
